Here at HuggingtheCoast.Com, it’s obvious that we’re big fans of cheese in all forms. So when we came across Chef Curtis Stone’s wonderful recipe for a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich made outdoors on a BBQ grill, we knew that we had to share it with you.
Made on deliciously crusty garlic rubbed ciabatta bread with a center of melted gruyere and Saint-Andre triple cream cheese, this richly flavored sandwich is far from the typical grilled cheese on white bread many of us first had as children.
Additionally, Chef Curtis Stone fills this gourmet grilled cheese with an optional nectarine fruit chutney (apple, peach, fig, or pear preserves would work too), a little dijon mustard for contrast, and some fresh arugula to add even more flavor depth to the sandwich.
(By the way, if you can’t find Saint-Andre cheese, a little Brie makes a nice substitute.)
Originally from Australia, Curtis Stone has worked under the legendary chef Marco Pierre White. He’s also the author of the cookbook, Relaxed Cooking with Curtis Stone: Recipes to Put You in My Favorite Mood.
You can see the video where Curtis Stone shows you how to make this gourmet grilled cheese on your BBQ grill below. Just click on the little blue arrow box in the lower right hand corner of the video box to start watching.
(Depending on the browser you use, there may be a short 30 second-ish ad that plays just before the recipe video starts. We can’t control this, but this recipe is more than worth the brief wait.)

Being a devout cheese lover, this sandwich is right up my alley. It uses Saint Andre, one of my favorites.
